    Husum

In the manner of Down the Shameless Plughole in another place, I see that attention has been drawn on yet another forum to the broadcast tonight of a piano recital by Marc-André Hamelin given last Monday in a festival which I believe is now in its 30th year:

To be broadcast this evening, 8 pm, by Deutschlandfunk Kultur

    Raritäten der Klaviermusik
    Schloss vor Husum, Rittersaal
    Aufzeichnung vom 21.08.2017

    George Enescu
Choral et Carillon nocturne aus Suite Nr. 3, op. 18

    Marc-André Hamelin
    Pavane variée

    Alistair Hinton
    Vocalise-Reminiscenza op. 29

    Samuel Feinberg
    Sonate Nr.2 a-Moll, op. 2
    Sonate Nr.1 A-Dur, op. 1
    Sonate Nr.4 es-Moll, op. 6

    Léon Jongen
    Campeador

    Moritz Moszkowski
    Valse op. 34 Nr. 1
    Caprice espagnol op. 37

    Marc-André Hamelin, Klavier

Das Programm von Deutschlandfunk Kultur mit Links zu Beiträgen und Audios aus allen Sendungen. Zum Nachhören oder Nachlesen – mit Vorschau und Rückschau.

Be there or be square Well done, ahinton.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Thank you! Sadly, I was unable to be there in person (the recital was given lastg Monday evening), much as I would have liked to.

Yes, indeed it is; many thanks for pointing this out! Why we're not on European Standard Time / Summer time in UK I have no idea - but that's for another discussion, methinks!

Just to be clear - should those of us in the UK tune in at 7:00pm or 9:00pm this evening?

            Thanks for posting ahinton.
            - congratulations; I shall look forward to this.

Many thanks. My understanding is that 8.00 p.m. in Germany is 7.00 p.m. in UK. There is a "listen again" facility there, though.

                  .

                  ... congratulations!

And an opportunity to recommend the works of Theodor Storm, son of Husum, "Die graue Stadt am grauen Meer... ". 'The Dykemaster' ['The Rider on the White Horse'] ('Der Schimmelreiter') is just wonderful...

I believe that it does if its consumer in dylsexic. Also, considering its location, it probably goes well with hamburgers as well.

A very enjoyable recital (fun coping with the German announcements, too) - the first time I've heard the Weinberg Sonatas; some early/mid Scriabinesque sounds.

And a lovely "meditation"/re-thinking of the Rachmaninoff Vocalise - congratulations again, Alistair; and thank you.

Best thing I've listened to in ages.
The sonatas were by Feinberg ferney, very nice they were too.
Very much enjoyed your piece Alistair, thank you.
What about those encores ? Even some Czerny, although I think they got the Op Number wrong on the playlist,7 is the 1st Sonata not a speed test.
                              Hamelin is a machine !
