Personally I love the sound of her voice, although her enunciation is sometimes unclear. For me she is perfect as Sieglinde, and I like her Strauss and Schubert recordings too.

Stop dodging my question. You said maybe your issue is with the 'white' voice. Why do you describe it this way? What is this 'white' business? Just come clean.

Her Four Last Songs was the first one I heard - I like it more for Karajan's contribution than for Janowitz'. Oddly enough, I prefer Shwarkopf/Szell to Janowitz/Karajan.

Janowitz was also the first Sieglinde I heard; but when I heard Crespin's assumption (for Solti), I felt that this was 'the real deal.'

This is my view, too. Except I can't call on her enunciation.

A "white voice" generally means one with a certain smoothness of sound and little or no vibrato, such as is the ideal in Anglican church choirs.

I can't be bothered bandying words with people who don't deserve explanations. If you want to know what a 'white' voice, go and do your own research.

                    Don't worry, Richard explained.

(Not sure why you feel I'm one of those people who don't "deserve" an explanation. )

Or White Voice can mean this, apparently.

                      Which sounds kind of different.

Isn't part of the point of a forum to share expertise and knowledge, and short circuit some of the research ?

As others have noted, most of your contributions to this forum are passively confrontational and generally obtuse.

When you lose the arguments you provoke (as you invariably do), you commence your familiar cycle of whining and complaining.

In the time I've been on this board, I've never read a single interesting or insightful posting under your byline. You will ignored by me in future.

Surprised to find how few solo recitals I have on CD. They are Strauss Orchestral songs with Stamp and the famous Karajan Vier Letzte. And the two double CDs of Schubert Lieder with Irwin Gage. They are all favourite discs.

Just looks like a whole heap of stereo-typing.
