    Summer Lunchtime Concerts - Nantwich

Just had the first of our summer lunchtime concerts for the season...rather like Nantwich's Proms! Here's the programme:

    Praeludium and Allegro - Kreisler
Sonata in E minor Op 82 - Elgar
    Sicilienne Op 78 - Faure
Polonaise de Concert Op 4 - Wieniawski

    Violinist - Qian Wu
    Pianist - Russell Lomas

Great performances. Russell said the Elgar was not very popular. On this outing I can't understand why. Anybody else have any opinions on this piece?

This Thursday from 12.30pm in St Mary's the students of Malbank School, Nantwich, will be doing their thing. It's usually great fun. Come along if you're in the vicinity..it's free!

Some good talent on show from Malbank School. One lad who did particularly well was Tom White who made a jolly good fist of the Meditation from Thais by Massenet. There was also a whistle stop tour through Rondo Alla Turca minus all repeats!! A good crowd there to encourage the youngsters. Very enjoyable!
