I hope some of the later Reformation concerts will contain works from countries other than Germany and Britain, such as the Netherlands and Scandinavia. Some of the German works are in any case part of standard repertoire and quite frequently played, and it will be good to hear rarer examples of music influenced by the Reformation.

This is a concert of excellent performance but do Bach and Mendelssohn need a Project? It would have been so much more interesting and valuable in many aspects to bring out the music by the composers who were, as aeolium puts it, influenced by the Reformation and whose music we rarely have opportunity to hear. It may be a bit mean to say this is a lost opportunity but I think it is a pity.

I very much enjoyed a virginal piece played by Sophie Yates in the interval.

            Sophie Yates.
As you say, teeny bit unsure about some of the other pieces being included.
