Philharmonia Impressions: Ligeti, Ravel, and Stravinsky

Did anyone listen last night (or go to the concert last Sunday)?
I seem to recall someone being miffed that the Stravinsky had replaced another piece that they had been interested in hearing.

Couldn't do the broadcast real justice (still waiting for the stereo to get installed in the new house ) but thought that the Stravinsky worth a listen, that the Ligeti worth digging out my recording of for another spin (not as intractable as I had remembered!), and that the Ravel was particularly impressive, especially the chorus.

I have the Ravel all ready for a proper listen, now I've heard the Jurowski DSCH15... Listened to the end in order to trim the recording - sounded pretty epic.

The Monteux/LSO recording received a number of plays in the car recently around France - what a great performance that is !

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."
