Another snowy Saturday night in Chicago and another great concert. The first half was the warm up, with Stravinsky Scene de Ballet, and then Gautier Capucon soloing in the Saint Sean's Cello Concerto #1. The meat of the program was MTT arrangement of R&J. It was great to hear the CSO in full cry on numbers like The Death of Tybalt.

The arrangement of the R&J numbers was made by MTT. It followed the story outline and made great dramatic sense. My previous concert experiences with this music are with arrangements made by the composer (?, I think) and while musically thrilling doesn't convey a sense of dramaComment
