Available on the i-Player Radio site, last nights's evening live concert featuring instrumental ensemble Apartment House, vocal ensemble Juice, and percussionist Joby Burgess. Works by Christopher Fox, Aldo Clementi, Martin Arnold, Laszlo Vidovszky, Sarah Dacey, James Lindsay, Ben Oliver, Linda Buckley, and Nicol Lizee.
As is often the case with such a wide selection of works, I didn't find all of them equally interesting or compelling - but what is most remarkable is that this "specialist interest" concert went out Live during the most prestigious broadcasting slot, rather than reserved for the late-night slot for the already-convinced. This - along with Meredith Monk featuring on Composer of the Week twice a day - is an excellent development, suggesting that Alan Davey is making concrete efforts to present the work of living composers (other than the usual suspects favoured by Kenyon and Wright) for wider, "mainstream" listeners.
