Agreed on both points, Freddie. Although I do feel that with the Purcell songs Bostridge was helped by Britten. I'd rather hear a decent HIP account of the Purcell, sung by a less lugubrious singer.
I guess you'll have to try listen again & skip through to the interval, Freddy. However, I do have a vague memory of Corelli being mentioned - but not Tippett, although if he was involved it could have been the Fantasia Concertante on a Theme of Corelli
I missed the Weill songs with texts by Whitman - so I guess I'll have to try listen again & skip through to the end!
I heard the fantasia (the only item I heard) which wasn't bad. I was trying to guess who it was by . It was all for strings.
I like Tippett symphony no.2, that would have been good in the second half.
