Vox Luminis: Radio3 in Concert Monday 6 June

From Salisbury Cathedral (as part of the Salisbury International Arts Festival), award-winning Belgian choir Vox Luminis perform sacred music by members of the Bach dynasty - Johann, Johann Michael, Johann Christoph and Johann Ludwig, culminating in Johann Sebastian's powerful motet Jesu meine Freude.

    Introduced by Martin Handley

Johann Ludwig Bach: Das Blut Jesu Christi

    Interval

Johann Ludwig Bach: Das ist meine Freude
Johann Sebastian Bach: Jesu meine Freude

    ...but nothing by PDQ.

Nevertheless, I look forward to this very much! Vox Luminis were on terrific form last time I heard them.

I suspect being in Salisbury Cathedral might have proved more inspiring than hearing the concert on the radio. I have to confess to getting just a wee bit...well, bored is a strong word; but back-to-back rather ordinary Baroquery began to take its toll. So much so that by the time the wonderful J.S. Bach's Jesu meine Freude came along, my ear was a little tired. I'd be interested to hear what others thought. Maybe I just had a bad evening!
