    Lufthansa Festival 2011

How is it that although the Lufthansa Festival this year is widely advertised in the classical notices for May, the BBC can only broadcast the Opening Concert of the Bach Mass in B Minor, but does nothing to broadcast the excellent concert on May 19th from Westminster Abbey of Music from Salzburg, including the Biber Mass, under the very capable James O,Donnel. Is there a problem with the BBC funding, after the Royal Wedding broadcasts, or is the Controller of Radio 3 choosing to ignore this concert ?. Is it now too late to alter the schedule.

This festival could also be the last chance to see/hear the great Gustav Leonhardt, 83 later this month, on Sunday afternoon.

Not to mention the mouth-watering attraction next Tuesday night, a performance of Buxtehude's Membra Jesu Nostri by Cantus Colln and Konrad Jughanel.

Radio 3 is broadcasting two baroque concerts live this week, so it feels a bit churlish to complain. Is the Early Music Show going to record any of them?
