BEETHOVEN PIANO CONCERTO NO.1... HDs sound, fine...
Oh dear. Might be best to pass this over politely.
Very moderately paced, orchestral phrasing I can only describe as "cautiously precise". By the end of the first movement it was actually sounding rather Brahmsian, and not in a good way. Fiery? Heavens no. Soloist Imogen Cooper seemed perfectly attuned to the direction. Sadly.
As the slow movement began, I wondered what I might do to pass the time...
Finale livened up a bit towards the end. Timpanist seemed to enjoy himself. Glad someone did.

I was traversing the darkened Park at midnight, S_A, though no serenaders visible (might have been a different story had there been any moonlight!)"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."
