Pity his Bruckner last week wasn't broadcast!

(I'll be ensconced in the RFH for the LPO/Jurowski Mahler 7 tonight! )
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

pedal fast and you'll make it home for the second half/extra time/penalties.

....being careful not to knock down any moonlight serenaders in Hyde Park as you do so.

BEETHOVEN PIANO CONCERTO NO.1... HDs sound, fine...

Oh dear. Might be best to pass this over politely.
Very moderately paced, orchestral phrasing I can only describe as "cautiously precise". By the end of the first movement it was actually sounding rather Brahmsian, and not in a good way. Fiery? Heavens no. Soloist Imogen Cooper seemed perfectly attuned to the direction. Sadly.

As the slow movement began, I wondered what I might do to pass the time...

Finale livened up a bit towards the end. Timpanist seemed to enjoy himself. Glad someone did.

            Supper afterwards in Skylon...

I was traversing the darkened Park at midnight, S_A, though no serenaders visible (might have been a different story had there been any moonlight!)

Look forward to a report on the Mahler 7.

Not caught up with the LSO concert yet. The Stucky piece made a fair impression when I heard it under the same forces a couple of years ago.
