I've seen him live at the Wigmore Hall a couple of times but only heard the last quarter an hour or so of the Schumann yesterday. Just a personal reaction but he seemed to be a player who did not want to engage strongly with his audience, giving himself entirely to the playing. Having said that I very much liked his performances of Brahms and enjoyed the little of the Schumann I caught yesterday and I'd try to listen/get to his recitals.

Thanks do visitors and a dog running riot I missed the Schumann, but I cannot praise his Brahms 117 highly enough, especially No. 3 which almost made one forget that the piano is a percussive instrument, but listening conditions weren't exactly ideal.

Will try and catch the repeat on Saturday.
