I've just been listening on iPlayer to the programme called Ghost Music on Radio 4 yesterday. It's a fascinating half hour retelling the story of the two trumpets found in Tutankhamun's tomb with some of the personalities involved at the time. The early broadcasts are wonderfully formal, obviously every word was scripted, and then the trumpets ring out!
There's a great deal more about the reconstruction of early instruments, both physically and also using computer's to reproduce the sound they made.
