Mark Forrest was a new name to me though I gather he is an experienced broadcaster. It may have been a slip of the tongue, but it irked me to hear Walton's 'Crown Imperial' described as a Coronation Anthem. As Sir Roy Vandervane said 'you've got to keep on at them'.

Mark was on Scala Radio (now Magic Classical) before he was part of a cull when a lot of their presenters were let go. Shame as he was one of the few with a good knowledge and presenting style. Glad he is now on Radio 3. He has also presented Radio 3 in Concert.

'Essential Classics' was (is?) the brand name of a Sony easy classics collection (eg Beethoven's 5th - 1st movement). R3 is nothing if not innovative [sic] (read that as you will!)! Nota: 1997 - long before R3's EC began. CD Masters was on until 2007, and it was dropped to make way for the easier 'Classical Collection'. That was dropped for EC with Rob Cowan in Sept 2011.
