If a prerecorded concert is advertised as 'live' why would a repeat not be 'live'?

    Mystifyinglyly, an FNIMN is advertised as taking place at Alexandra Palace [BUY TICKETS] on 6 November - which is a Wednesday, so it will presumably be 'as live' on Friday 8th.
    November 8th looks like being the next 'live' edition to be broadcast, following what I believe to be repeats from the 1st Radio 3 season.

      With Craig Revel Horwood co-presenting with Katie D. I do hope cheesy inter-presenter banter is kept to a minimum….

        Alexander Pope, An Essay on Man, line 95.
        It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

              ... well Pope's original mss include the draft -

              Milk springs maternal in the human breast;
              Milk ever is, but cheese is always best.
              The curds, uneasy, and remov'd from whey,
              Rest and ponder, to be brie next day

                    Searching for a source, I was greeted by Google with 'Did you mean “Hope springs eternal in the human breast"? so I presume either M Vinteuil or one of his erstwhile auncient cronies penned it? Worth quoting the original here:

                    “Hope springs eternal in the human breast;
                    Man never Is, but always To be blest.
                    The soul, uneasy, and confin'd from home,
                    Rests and expatiates in a life to come.”

                    I take some pleasure in the fact that in this place a thread about R3's ineffable Friday Night Is Music Night could ascend to the subject of Pope's Essay on Man.

                      Oddly enough, line 95 is counted differently (4 lines out) elsewhere...

                        i wasn’t going to say it but outside university I’ve never met any one who’s read Pope esp the Essay on Man,

                        who wrote the parody? I have several books of poetic parodies but can’t find it anywhere …

                              ... your text is from the 1734 edition : I think FF used the 1743 edition prepared under Pope's direction. Pope went on correcting the poem until he died, and various of the lines were moved about during his revisions.
