Oh, and it was 3 Australians all called Bruce and a “pommy bastard” called Michael whom they re-name Bruce “to keep it clear”
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
      Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

It's all coming back....from a 'seventies haze.....they say if you can remember the 'sixties you weren't there. Age inflation has moved that to the 'seventies!

The online schedules don't seem to want to indicate whether tonight's episode is a repeat, a recording or live. A bit of googling has filled in the gaps - it is a recording of a concert in Chichester last Friday - but why did I have to hunt elsewhere for that information? It's not as if it would be hard to include it in the listings - would take less time and effort than the blurb that does appear.
Whether I listen after all that will depend on how much of a deterrent the Derham proves.

            Current Radio Times, page 124.
It's an attractive-looking programme, including works by Arnold, Tovey, Gipps and Smyth. I'm sure I shall be able to 'blank out' KD! I

The online RT schedule marks it in a little blue oblong as Live. Which means ...
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

My exposure to FNiMN is usually about a minute as I climb into bed , then switch off to avoid a dose of 'tonality poison'.

I use the BBC online schedule, which still has no indication. If RT online can show it, why not the originating source of the programme(from which RT presumably got the details in the first place) on its own online face to the world?

'Live' is, it seems, now used to refer to a recording of a live concert or a live relay of a concert. At one time, deferred broadcasts of sporting events were described as 'as live'; tonight's FNiMN would seem to be covered by this phrase.

It would be well worth reintroducing it!

For me it's a case of 'Don't turn on in the first place', I'm sad to say.

Is it usual for 'Music Played' to be shown on the website before the broadcast (so we see the interval piece and what's played after the concert)?
I don't usually investigate but I thought that the playlist appeared after the event.

Kathryn Rudge and conductor Martin Yates join the BBC Concert Orchestra at the Alban Arena

Both tonight's FNiMN and next week's are repeats, so the playlists are 'after the (previously broadcast) event'.

Ah......that might explain why it's Summer in St Albans (not just because of the current decent weather)!

No Friday Night is Music Night tonight......not even Good Friday Night is Music Night! Schumann's Manfred and Brahms' Requiem, advertised as Easter: A Seasonal Journey. What will FNiMN regulars make it, I wonder? Perhaps expecting Irving Berlin's Easter Parade, fooled by the 'A Seasonal Journey'
