    First week of live concerts

As if the Proms weren't enough ...! The schedules for the new nightly evening concerts, starting on Tuesday 3 May, are now up giving a first taste of what's to come.

Tuesday: Live from Sherborne Abbey: The Sixteen and Harry Christophers in a programme devoted to Victoria

Wednesday: LPO/Jurowski - Wagner: Overture, Die Meistersinger, Strauss: Four Last Songs (Christine Brewer), Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 5

Thursday: Hallé/Elder - Sibelius: En Saga Op. 9, Prokofiev: Piano Concerto No 2 Op 16 (Sunwook Kim), Elgar: Variations on an Original Theme for Orchestra (Enigma) Op 36

Friday: BBC Phil/Sinaisky - Dvorak: The Golden Spinning Wheel, Haydn: Trumpet Concerto for trumpet and orchestra in E flat (Alison Balsom), Shostakovich: Symphony No.5 in D
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

One has seen far poorer evenings' entertainments...

    ...particularly down here in Cornwall
I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!

        Good news indeed, FF.

        Thanks for the advance information.

        I shall be listening.

Tuesday & Wednesday look pretty good - unfortunately the children are visiting Tuesday night, so I'll miss The Sixteen - a double pity as they aren't coming to Glasgow this time. They had a very full house in the Cathedral on their last visit. I just hope I'll remember to listen to Wednesday, what with packing to go away!

And this is genuine live? Not 'as live'?
