Bruckner 4 tonight a treat for a tired worker!

I've had a busy frustrating and exhausting day at work (after poor Mrs Flay breaking her wrist last night too!) So to discover this live performance by the BBCSSO has been a delightful pleasure.

Now I feel I can face tomorrow!

Is anyone else Romanticising?

I had a ticket, mainly because of the Mahler, but thought I'd take a punt on the Bruckner. However I had rather a rough Monday & Tuesday (tummy bug & heart problems) so thought I might just go for the Mahler (it was a 'free' concert with my subscription). In the end I didn't even go for that as the heart was playing up again today & I didn't have the energy.

Thanks Flay. The tummy's settled, sort of, but the heart comes & goes.

I might have a go at the Bruckner, but it would be out of a sense of duty - a feeling that I should try (rather like I keep trying with McMillan )

What about the symphony? The 1888 version. I get so confused with the various options.

Oh dear.... I had a hot shower after a blowy ride home at the end of rather a busy day, lay down on the bed just as the symphony was being introduced... and woke up for the final chords, literally the last 2 bars or so!

Heard the second half on the car radio. Conductor Wigglesworth made a big thing, in his interval interview, about the edition of Bruckner 4 being used, but I never caught its name. Anyone?

Sounded an impressive performance so shall listen again asap.
