The same failing is evident in the YouTube presentation of the entire performance at that Prom (you can switch it to 720p HD quality)

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Good that it's on - but a mention would have been nice ...
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I don't want my name emphasised: it's GSKB's music, after all. Still, it is nice to be acknowledged.

It's been sufficiently long since the Proms performance that I can reveal that Andrew Manze made a few amendments to my score because of concerns about the vast barn that is the RAH. (It was all done with my approval.)

The most drastic was to play the 'ghost' sections of "Is my team ploughing?" with 16 strings, 4 per part, rather than the quartet I'd written for. It should be string quartet, con sordini, sul ponticelli and senza vibrato.

Mark Elder performed it as written (at the RAM on 13th February) and everything worked very well (the conductor in Ottawa last November was equally successful) so perhaps Andrew Manze was over-cautious.

I look forward to hearing a performance of all the songs in Pab's orchestrations on R3

I caught this by complete chance last night on TTN - had forgotten about this thread - but who knows what subterranean infuences were at work in my unconscious at that hour: I had just had the pleasure of meeting Pabs for coffee, not in Capiz alas, but in the steamy confines of Costa in Chandler's Ford.

I will listen again, particularly as I wasn't familiar with the work in its original form. I think Roderick Williams is a superb artist, and his articulation was particularly clear, given the acoustic. I was struck by the very long silence at the end of the work before applause broke in: a tribute to the artistry of all concerned, including of course, Pabs.

He was fully acknowledged as arranger in the back announcement this morning.

Edit: and in the TTN listing on the website.
