A real treat at today's 'live' recital from the Wigmore Hall:
Haydn Str Qt in B flat, Op1, No 1 ((La chasse)
Brahms Clarinet Quintet in B minor, Op 115
Badke Quartet, Maximiliano Martin (clarinet)
A superb resonant recording, presumably a packed Hall contributes here? However, my recorder will be at the ready for next Sunday's R3 repeat, (21 Dec), 13.00hrs.
In the meantime, I'm eager to revisit a treasured five cassette collection of Brahms Chamber Works (World Records) performed by Busch Quartet ensembles, with Rudolf Serkin (Piano), Reginald Kell (Clarinet) and Aubrey Brain (Horn), I see that the Clarinet Quintet was recorded at Abbey Rd Studios on 10 Oct 1937 - a definitive interpretation of 'making
music'.
