I use the opening bars of Bruckner's 3rd for my mobile phone's alarm. It makes an ideal awakening.

Classical ring tunes on mobiles
Inspired by Flay's post on another thread, I wondered if anyone else had 'co-opted' a classical piece for an individual phone ring tone or alarm?
As a ring tone, I have Ton Koopman playing the opening of JSB's Toccata in C major BWV 564
There's another piece of barockery as the alarm, but I need to remind myself what it is...."...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Trouble is with my Bach tone, if I hear it on the radio, I leap for the phone - I associate it with work emergencies
Well done Wilson re post #1 (wondered how long it would take you to spot that! )"...the isle is full of noises,

can you still punch your own tune in to these modern mobiles ?
I was rather pleased with myself when I managed to programme mine with the " Mission Impossible" theme back in the day.
Which isn't really classical, actually, so off topic.
Best thing would be to download a piece as a ringtone for the next concert that one is attending, so that any mishap could go down as a minor slip in space time, rather than as being " the numpty that didn't check their device".I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

But no... today, you just select a music track on your phone to play as the ring tone or alarm or whatever! Do keep up at the back !!"...the isle is full of noises,

the only meaningful sounds from my current "phone" (Blackberry, be advised folks)are the crashing tinkling sort that you get when you throw it against the wall every time it turns itself off at random inconvenient moments....I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. Don Petter
Mine only offers me Mozart 40th or Bach's Badinerie as classical options, but I did programme Chopin's March Funebre in the excitement of first getting the phone.
However, I am not in favour of any of these egotistical fancy ring tones, which mark the user as a grade one herbert, so I use the quietest one I have available, that being 'Croak'.

Plus having a favourite piece somewhat reconciles one to the intrusion of a call...
...
Oh... and I've told you not to call me 'herbert' in public!!

Yes I have a blackberry from work, for emails, and I've set it to make zero noise. However I also have a separate phone for calls, texts, alarms, radio etc - the tiny and ancient but strong as an ox Sony 750
Apparently it's come back into fashion and is a somewhat desirable retro item (rather like its owner, some might say )"...the isle is full of noises,
