My suggestion is ask the Mods to change the title of this thread to Murdochs and Sky Arts, and you can start a new thread SkyArts 2 for music only discussions, I really would expect the Mods to support your wish (I assume it is your wish) that we only discuss the music there.

So when does the music thread start?

...Well one difference between Bb & Sky Arts2 is that the latter simply "buy in" Arts Programmes- they don't pretend to be
sufficently knowledgable to Present their own,as does the Bb.With that as a given theirs is not a bad(if repeatative)effort!

Freddie, I would love a BBC arts channel similar to SA2 but with a mix of original BBC programmes and 'bought in' productions. Given the pressure the beeb is under to be 'representative' I doubt that I'll ever see it. More the pity, their archives must be very impressive.

For members that have the full Sky package, may I recommend that you connect to Sky Anytime +. I have done this today and have watched MTT conducting the SFSO
in Tch 4, excellent sound and vision. If this is the kind of classical music available, I shall be spending a good deal of time enjoying great music and, the good news, it costs
nothing, just connect it to your modem and sky box and enjoy.

Now on Virgin in glorious HD. Thank you Rupert!

Welcome to the HD Club Panjandrum!

I've just been watching Alison Balsom in glorious HD on Sky Arts 2. Absolutely stunning.

And the trumpet playing wasn't half bad either......

I liked the description of Sky Arts in yesterday's Guardian:

"As good as BBC2 when BBC2 was BBC2."

Freddie - have you been watching the excellent series of interviews with Howard Goodall and various star players, and do you know if Sky commissioned them? As far as I can tell they're original. I haven't examined the credits closely so it may be a production company (which the BBC does all the time these days).

I've watched the Natalie Clein and Nicola Benedetti ones and very good they were. Excellent, in-depth interviews.
