          What a depressing photograph that is on the BBC web site. I thought it was a semi-derelict stone-crushing plant until I looked more closely and realised it was a photograph of the venue.

          Does the Southbank Centre look as joyless and dilapidated as that in real life?

            Looks a bit tarted up to me. Also looks like it was all going on behind closed doors.

              No, it was just the angle from which the shot was taken, and the likelihood that all the thousands of lovely tourists normally thronging the precinct, regardless of season or weather, would have been shooed away in order to have had it taken, VC.
