I missed this - was it some heavy/lightweight crossover programming effort?

I couldn't listen to the second half but heard the Farnon - forgettable, all-purpose mood music - and part of the Shore which I found empty and irritatingly aimless enough to be switched off

      Anyone hear the Walton?

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
      Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

To be fair, it has always been a crossover orchestra.

It just seemed strange to programme such lightweight stuff alongside one of the most substantial symphonic works in the repertory, let alone by Walton.

I didn't hear it, but the first half has the Canadian connection, of course (Farnon was, and Shore is) so a planner clearly thought there was something to be exploited.
