Not that I like the sound of the top line but what was very good was to hear the Byrd 4-part Gloria sung with ONLY four voices. Haven't heard it quite like that since singing it thus in my student days!Comment

I disagree that it's gratuitous to comment here on the broadcasting style of the regular presenter of a Radio 3 programme. Nor to observe that this particular guest seemed to be sucked into the vortex and to respond in the same way. Whereas other guests react by "shutting down" and answering as tersely and disengagedly as possible. And the best guests are able to just speak naturally and communicate what they most want to say anyway, in spite of the host. Pleasant / unpleasant / not pleasant - a matter of taste.Comment

Indeed. An excellent communicator. Just caught up with this on iPlayer. I saw them on their Byrd tour (in St David's Cathedral) and he expanded my understanding of the liturgy (as a non-practitioner myself) in his comments between numbers - I went away and read up on propers and ordinaries as well as buying CDs on the way out. Sean is no slouch when it comes to RC liturgy either. Looking forward to sampling their Tallis in due course.
