Early music stalwart, the soprano Dame Emma Kirkby is today's guest presenter of The Early Music Show, and chooses some of her favourite seasonal music from the Middle Ages, Renaissance and Baroque.

Yes, well I fear EMS is not going to fare well in the Future. I was surprised that with the exception of Serse that no early music is being reviewed as 2013 recommendations on CD Review.

That photo has appeared before. It’s the same photo but Lucie’s face seems to have been ‘touched up’ (Ugh..)

I adore Emma Kirkby as a performer or a guest to a programme. Early Music Show isn’t, hasn’t (…..well, may be already ‘wasn’t’) a kind of programme in which someone comes in and talks about something they already know and plays music in no particular order. It is based on serious research and presented with a purpose and excellent skills (and a lot of love).

If it is going to be turned into yet another chat with nice music sort of programme, I’d rather see it go completely.

This is becoming a habit: yes i see that early music is not a priority and can also see now why CB left. The station is going to pot :/

Sadly, I must agree. I feel that Early Music is not a priority for R3. And can see why Catherine left. There is little to listen to unless you are enamored of Tweets and inane text messages.

I can't even find EMS on the website any more - it doesn't seem to be featured, or listed in the alphabetical list - at least I can't find it. I'm sad to say I haven't listened to it live on air since the time shift, because the new slot doesn't suit (I daresay it suits others) and I haven't got round to listening on iPlayer. All very sad.
