it is a shame that EMS and JRR JLU are all dumped for the Britten PestFest .... and yes some lute and guitar recitals would be most welcome ...

And, apart from the above, no CE tomorrow. I hadn't realised the whole weekend was a BrittenFest. I'm sure these 48hr saturations lose R3 more listeners than they gain.

Pears-Bream lute song recordings plus Britten Nocturnal after John Dowland for guitar....Courtly Dances from Gloriana....would have made a lovely hour.

I agree with all the above suggestions that an Britten-themed EMS would have been brilliant...an opportunity lost. The BBC didn't dump Words and Music..which was Britten-themed. The snag is it was on Saturday and at a different time. I'm glad I happened on it by accident, as it was on Britten's poets.

well we have had both of those during the weekend, but admittedly not within the same hour - there's some tenor/guitar coming up this morning

there was a brief discussion with James Bowman about Britten/Purcell realizations [which JB didn't sound too keen on ]

There were some Britten/Pears performances of Purcell songs played earlier this evening and a bit of Britten conducting Bach's Brandenburg Concertos was on yesterday. I agree, there's plenty of material to have made a very interesting Britten-related EMS.

what was BB trying to do with his Purcell realizations ? ...... improve on the original ? make them his own ? make Purcell better known ?

Perhaps not off-topic, because those versions of Purcell are a bit problematic in an Early Music context these days. You could make an EMS around them, but you'd probably end up being quite critical.
