    Renaissance sacred music from Poland

Today’s (Monday) Proms Chamber Music at 1.00 pm
This is a backup to the official thread on the Proms Board, as the official title may not be quite enticing enough..

programme centering on the little-known repertoire of choral music from Renaissance Poland - most of it rarely heard these days, and some of it only recently re-discovered in the archives of the University of Warsaw.

I suggest the comments be posted on the official thread.

    Enticing concert.
Broadcast will be repeated coming Saturday.
There is a lot to be discovered or re-discovered in Warsaw and especially Krakow.
Many scores which the Russians stole from the German archives in Berlin in 1945 are known to be in either archive.
E.g. since the early 1980s many Mozart scores, e.g. some of the symphonies, and Beethoven ones have re-emerged in Krakow.

      Absolute delight!
Quiet, immaculately performed, NO applause every other item, real discoveries, and gently understated.

      What a marvellous surprise!

... if you liked that, you might like The Sixteen's new CD of the music of Bartłomiej Pękiel -

Marvellous indeed. And I liked those interspersions of the respective movements of Cage's 4'33" very much too

Made it all the more unhurried, peaceful and successful.
            I just wish they'd tuned Cage's piano.
