    l'Orfeo / A. Parrott on CD Review 13 July

CD Review last Saturday (3 more days to listen)

Andrew talks to conductor Andrew Parrott about his new recording of Monteverdi's l'Orfeo
With Andrew McGregor. Including an interview with conductor Andrew Parrott.

A very interesting 50 minutes. I was pleased to hear AP’s comment that l'Orfeo was not an opera with sets and costumes as we tended to think these days, and (this was Andrew’s ‘input’) recording was a suitable option. Having seen the video clips of most available DVDs, I had been hovering over the idea of going for a CD, and now I am trying to make up my mind over these three CDs (or shall I get them all and be done with…)

I am about to order the new version from Presto. The bits played on Saturday, coupled with the IRR review, have really impressed me.
