It was great to hear Hogwood back at the helm of the AAM - reminded me of all those wonderful vintage L'Oiseau Lyre recordings he did. I've almost given up hope of his Haydn symphony cycle ever being completed.
Pegleg - I am absolutely stunned that Decca, having pulled the plugs on the AAM/Hogwood cycle, could rub salt into the wound by issuing an only three quarters complete box set of it! Who on earth is going to invest in such a set?
As for Hogwood's Mozart recordings, I love them...I have very fond memories of collecting the Mozart symphony cycle as it came out on LP, and being thrilled by all those revelatory sounds.
