I assume that as Red Nose Day is a BBC production R3 had no say in the matter
They would have had a say in WHAT they did. With all these hilarious videos and frenetic non-stop marketing by Radio 3 staff, they may find they've spent more than they raise. As well as upsetting the adults ...
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I knew I was right not to switch the radio on today.

Why don't the Beeb follow one of HS's maxims - 'Less is More.'

      {In this case, he's right ]

Are you sure those were the exact words used?

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
        Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

            Don't know what to say!

            Found this:

Sara Mohr-Pietsch set herself the challenge of learning 8 notes on the cello in 7 days! You can hear the result in The Comic Canon, a mega mash-up of Pachelb...

            and loved it.

            PS Caliban, dig that 'bone.

...and by coincidence, it was Purcell's bawdy catches on CotW today.

I had to turn off Breakfast this morning and just now I've had to turn off In Tune due to yet more Baroque Bites (who wrote this drivel?) Can anyone who has access to R3's FaceBook tell us if they are getting favourable comments?

                      Anna:
R3's Facebook has gone into overdrive today with acres of pictures showing the presenters (announcers) looking soooooo cute in their fancy dress and red noses. The response from the listening hoi-polloi has been very low key with few comments. SM-P gets a "Yeah, she's well hot" from one charmer. Brickbats and bouquets are fairly even (although there is one hyperventilating enthusiast who feels it necessary to cheerlead everything and ends all his messages with <grin> for some obscure reason).
                      It all looks depressingly childish.

I plucked up courage to switch on R3 for the Purcell on COTW (nice performance of Come Ye Sons of Art), then switched off when it had finished While having lunch a bit later I switched on again and there was some football 'celebrity' talking about nothing in particular, as far as I could tell. Turned it off. Later, driving, I switched on again and what was the first thing I heard? Sarah Walker talking about that bl***y cat. That's it for today. Leave the children to play.

So did I... It was desperately effortful and UNFUNNY I don't mind messing around, clowning and jokes AS LONG AS THEY ARE FUNNY...

Was it really Simon Russell B mixed up in all that doing all the daft accents? Just poor.

I stopped the bike, cycling home, and with an oath switched to CLASSIC FM (are you getting this, R3??).... and was rewarded with Mozart's Piano Concerto 27. I arrived at the destination before the adverts cut in.
