I wonder if this disc has made it to CD Review yet. It was an Editor's Choice in the latest Gramophone and highly praised in IRR:

      --

      One for Baroque lovers...

'This recording gathers together vocal gems from the Italian baroque and some of the most renowned artists in this repertoire: Il Giardino Armonico's co-founder Luca Pianca, Roberta Invernizzi (soprano) and contralto Sonia Prina. This intense and heart-stretching programme on love and sadness gathers a series of amazing duets by Monteverdi, Handel (when living in Italy), Marcello, Scarlatti, Lotti and Durante.'

The Monteverdi is especially alluring and deliciously chromatic. I was won over from the start ('Interrotte Speranze').

More than 100 million tracks available for unlimited streaming in high sound quality. Qobuz is also the worldwide leader in 24-Bit Hi-Res downloads.

                STEFFANI: Stabat Mater:

It was extremely mean of Andrew to play Leonhardt’s Steffani Stabat Mater and telling us that it was currently unavailable, so (I suspect...) he didn’t have to say all he might have said about Bartoli’s version. This slot is for New Release!!

Incidentally, is this the same CD as the one that is part of the unavailable 50-CD box set?

Doversoul : yes, that CD is the same as the one in the 50 CD set.

I don't know whether it features in the smaller DHM box (25 CDs?) out recently and discussed on these Boards...

EDIT : yes it is! -

I thought it was played as a sort of tacit comment of the withering variety regarding the Bartoli version. A radio version of 'nudge nudge, wink wink', see how it should be done.

Bartoli seems to get a lot of coverage on CD Review. Her voice is not to my taste.

I’ve forgiven Andrew, now that I know the CD is available (but how come he didn’t know, considering the fact that this is a programme about CDs? No able assistant? )

                      Thank you vinteuil
I wasn’t too tempted by the 50 CD set but 25 for £21 seems un-ignore-ble, considering the Leonhardt’s CD is £14.

I'll be interested to hear what Nick Kenyon has to say, but I confess to have already snapped up those AAM reissues from Decca Eloquence and have enjoyed a lot of nostalgic listening.
