Wasn't there once a staged production by Graham Vicks?

Critics were rather sniffy about it.

Lovely piece for Holy Week! Straightforward early Baroque, and ideal for a small consort of singers doing 'step out' solos. A taster here:

My favourite version is still that of Ton Koopman and the Hanover Boys Choir from the 80s...happily now available on a budget twofer from Virgin.

The senses reign and Reason now is dead...(Petrarch)...

I've had the dance/sonata sequence La Morte della Ragione playing quite often in the house recently - dazzlingly inventive and intense often surprisingly dark and always stunningly intricate, with many unusual wind/string combos (great trombone solo!). Wonderfully surprising music! Antonini and co at their best.

Interestingly it streams on Qobuz at 24/176.4, and you don't see that every day...

That Supersize Polyphony looks good too, will seek out, thanks for the mention....

I'm instinctively drawn to music like this more and more...
