Enjoyed the Dowland piece from Stile Antico. Nice idea to make an 'In a Strange Land' CD. I find their voices more rounded and warmer than in their earlier years.
Maybe 'maturity' setting in...in a good way! I love Robert White's lamentations (which we didn't hear) so this may be a CD for me.

Looking forward very shortly to King Arthur...another CD I might buy with a Chrissy token. I like pretty much everything Vox Luminis do...but did I just hear Andrew McG describe them as a French group? Er, Belgian I think.

      ...

...though probably not. All very beautifully played and sung, but I missed a certain lightness of touch.

The extract played this morning sounded brilliant (unsurprisingly)
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
          Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

I heard extracts of this disc on France Musique last week...some good things for we barockers.

Well we got a bit of Binchois. My initial thought was Why? But on reflection, why not? The CDs in question are a sort of Jeremy's Journey. I find the cover picture rather amusing:
