EMS Sunday 10 July - live from NCEM, York

Had a ticket for today's show, but recovering from a bad cough, and didn't want to be 'that guy'

Anyone on here who made it to the NCEM? Must say, I was a bit puzzled by the need in today's programme for an 'early music news update', which apparently we'll be treated to fortnightly. Let's hope it gets a discreet burial in the near future.

If they are going to do this then there needs to be rethink about the time allocated to the EMS, since it will result in shortchanging. There used to be an additional halfhour EM slot a while back I seem to remember - it would be better to resurrect that for the news content and do it properly (which I didn't think today's outing did), rather than eating into EMS. There are already too many occasions when we say "could have done with a longer/two part programme" for some of the material, and this will not do anything to resolve that, quite the reverse in fact.

Or just listen on Sounds, when (after 30 days) you get all of the news and very little of the music.
