    Bach Complete Brandenburgs at Cothen

I hope fellow members can see this - the wonderful Collegium 1704 and Vaclav Luks performing all six Brandenburg Concerti in the hall of mirrors at the recently restored Kothen castle. Another treasure from the Arte channel.

Very nice, thanks Micky. Although the horns in no.1 are too restrained for my liking and, Maestro Luks, if you're going to use a theorbo in your continuo section it might be a good idea to use single instruments per part, and no double bass, so that the thing can actually be heard!

This group's finest moment IMO (in rather massively augmented form!) is this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-IWpwbw6-So

        Many thanks MickyD

I've listened to half, just having a tea break and a bit of forumising before listening to the rest

Pleased to have passed this on.... it's good to see this group in action. It is a very resonant acoustic, which doesn't bother me in the least...and Bach must have been used to such locations for his music?

Although with an audience present it would have been less resonant than without. And see my comment about the horns in no.1: I don't think the recording necessarily represents what they would have heard in this space - and presumably the musicians would have been playing at one end of the space rather than in the middle. Wenn schon, denn schon, as the Germans say.

How often I have wished for a time machine to be able to go back and hear it for real.
