    Water EMS 28th Nov

It's the last of Hannah's excursion around the four 'classical' elements. Now I wonder if Handel's Water Music will get an outing?

I had wondered if "Drop drop slow tears" might count so was pleased that it did. A good selection of pieces I thought, and a high proportion "new to me". I had not considered the origins of the hornpipe, so that was something learned today as well.

I haven't heard it all yet, BUT I caught the last item, Dowland's 'Can she excuse my wrongs' in the consort version. It sounded horrible! Much prefer the solo + lute version anyway. Will hear the whole show later.

Hamburger Ebb und Fluth, according to the playlist (part of?)
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Very briefly - in the lovely Zefiro recording.

I have to say that I find Hannah French's habit of talking over the first few bars of each piece and coming in again before the end very annoying.

Yes it is. I dare say it's the producer's idea. Who does he/she think is tuning in to EMS?
