We got our moneysworth on Sunday13th. Some vintage Tallis and Josquin by the Tallis Scholars plus two winning entries from the young composers' award. I enjoyed both the latter and was glad Finton O'Hare brought something extra in the sense of rhyhm to the otherwise tendency-to-be-bland nature of the current fashion.

I thought Peter Phillips came over as pleasantly modest...and it's not many 'big name' directors who would hand over their baton to a youngster. Elidh Owen's piece was delightful, and she's still a sixth-former. Good for her.

A satisfying programme I thought. When he was describing his work I was a bit dubious about what I would hear but I thoroughly enjoyed Fintan O'Hare's piece, and got the feeling that the Tallis Scholars enjoyed performing it.

Yes. It might sound 'wrong' but it was part of The Early Music Show. The compositions were inspired by early music.
