    RIAS Chamber Choir - Like a Phoenix

    Just spent a happy hour with headphones. A really enjoyable concert...a seamless progression of choral music interspersed with short organ improvisations by Martin Baker.

    NB The RIAS Chamber Choir has recently released its 2020 Messiah on CD, same conductor and great soloist line-up, including Julia Doyle, Tim Mead, Tom Hobbs and Roddy Williams. If you want a fantastically well-played Messiah, this is for you. It's not quite 'English', somehow. I can't explain why! Any comments welcome.......

      Westminster Cathedral connections. Martin Baker was organist until fairly recently, and Justin Doyle a chorister in the later 1980s.

        Yes superlative concert and a great format to eliminate presenter interruptions!

          In this case I agree! Though sometimes EMS, especially when there is an 'expert' guest, can be fascinating and informative. The recent episode about Padilla and before that Vincenzo Galilei (lutenist) were pretty good, I thought.
