The Early Music Now slot has (for me anyway) slipped in under the radar...and I'm very pleased that it has. This coming Monday's edition may be a bit of a hybrid, perhaps more 'Now' than 'Early', but it should be interesting.
Songs of Hope
ORA Singers with conductor Suzi Digby perform settings of the Miserere - Songs of Hope - Renaissance masterpieces in twentieth-century arrangements. Psalm 51 is one of the seven penitential psalms, whose plaintive call for forgiveness and salvation has been set to music by countless composers. Recorded at St Peter's Cathedral, Regensburg as part of the 2019 Regensburg Early Music Days Festival. Presented by Georgia Mann.
Allegri arr. Ben Byram-Wigfield: Miserere mei, Deus
Byrd arr. Sally Dunkley: Vigilate, from 'Cantiones Sacrae' (1589)
Miserere mihi, Domine, from 'Cantiones Sacrae' (1589)
Civitas sancti tui, from 'Cantiones Sacrae' (1589)
