    Just listened to this...I enjoy Nick Kenyon's choices, but I'm not sure that he gets all of his memories right. For instance, in this episode he states that John Eliot Gardiner had been reticent to join the period instrument brigade at first, but some of his English Baroque Soloists recordings go back to the early 80s. I don't consider him a latecomer to the scene.

      I agree. He also somewhat glossed over the huge resistance to the sound of HIPP instruments (particularly in orchestral and instrumental music) particularly in the 80s and 90s. Even today HIPP divides opinions more than practically anything else so to leave this area untouched is rather a black mark on this series.
