To Vibrate or not to Vibrate

Doubtless, most are aware of the source readings on the matter of vocal vibrato (and singing in general) for the 16th and 17th centuries, but this short video is so concise, informative and enjoyable, I thought it worth posting here.

For the footnotes and other extra information see the following link:https://www.earlymusicsources.com/youtube/vibrato-1500-1600Created by Elam Rotem & Lisan...

Not just that episode but others in the series. One is reminded of Kenneth Hamilton's book 'After the Golden Age' where he draws similar conclusions (mainly in relation to piano music) where tempi were less rigidly adhered to and where melodies and accompaniments didn't necessarily fir together well!

Thanks so much for drawing our attention to this series. Must find time to listen to other 'episodes'.
