Two wonderful singers but I’m too old for this sort of thing.

Caught a large part of this in the car. Personal taste no doubt: I just don't need what they do to this music, for me it does the opposite of improving it.

Odd, perhaps - I love what Jacques Loussier does with Bach...

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
          Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments

I think it might have been just OK or even quite good without the singers. Not that the singers were poor but they were just not part of this ‘wild-isation’. I found it almost painful to listen to the singers.

Once upon a time, L'arpeggiata and Jaroussky did a wild-up Monteverdi which was quite fun but I found no such sense of spontaneity in this Handel programme.

If Christine Pluhar wants to let her hair down and party, then I'm tempted to suspend judgement and join in. But parties are wild affairs: either love or hate them.

Just caught up with this on iPlayer. Wasn't sure I had the right programme at first, until I remembered this thread. Quite enjoyed it really.
