After listening to both Butt's Albert Hall St.John Passion and a performance from the Netherlands Bach Society (http://allofbach.com/en/bwv/bwv-245/ ) on Friday. I had earmarked last night for this performance of the St Mark Passion. Could someone kindly tell me what is thought to be the source of the music for the final chorale (23) of part one and the opening tenor aria (24) of part 2.
John Browne's Stabat Mater was not played in full. You might weep at the cultural vandalism of Henry VIII's time, but you don't have to be an aficionado to be astounded by John Browne's vision of celestial harmony. Just find 16mins in your day for this: https://youtu.be/mn2LmGyH1hA
