Giuliano Carmignola with Concerto Koln: EML 4 March

Elin Manahan Thomas presents highlights of a concert of baroque violin concertos given by Giuliano Carmignola with Concerto Köln at the George Enescu International Festival and Competition in Bucharest. Vivaldi's Four Seasons is paired with less familiar works by Evaristo Felice Dall'Abaco and Charles Avison.

Evaristo Felice Dall'Abaco Concerto in D minor, Op.2'1 from 'Concerti a quarto da chiesa'
Charles Avison Concerto no.6 in D, from '12 Concertos in Seven Parts'
    Antonio Vivaldi The Four Seasons:
La Primavera, Violin Concerto no.1 in E, RV.269
    L'Estate, Violin Concerto no.2 in G minor RV.315
    L'Autunno, Violin Concerto no.3 in F, RV.293
    L'Inverno, Violin Concerto no.4 in F minor, RV.297

    Giuliano Carmignola (violin)
    Concerto Köln
    Mayumi Hirasaki (director).
Giuliano Carmignola with Concerto Koln in baroque concertos by Charles Avison and Vivaldi.

Definitely for Beefy ( Carmignola) and MickyD’s dream come true (Charles Avison played by Concerto Koln).

Definitely ds, Concerto Koln and Avison, what a combination! Their disc of Dall'Abaco is well worth getting, gorgeous music. And they have made a disc of Avison, although I haven't got my mitts on it yet!

Yes, quite a surprise to find Avison in that company.
        Bringing Koln to Newcastle perhaps?

        Anyway:

Concerto Koln without Reinhard Goebel? I thought that he never handed over the keys to the car?

Is it not Musica Antiqua Köln you are thinking of? As far as I am aware, Concerto Koln does not have a fixed director/conductor.

You're absolutely right, ds, that's always been their policy. And Musica Antiqua Koln was sadly disbanded some years ago.
