    Mediterranean polyphony: EML 10 December

Elin Manahan Thomas presents highlights of a concert of Mediterranean polyphony given by the Ghislieri Choir and Consort at the MAFestival in Bruges. The programme includes music by the little-known Benigno Zerafa , whose entire collection of sacred vocal works was found in a cupboard in Malta Cathedral in 1969, and an unusual version of Pergolesi's Stabat Mater.

Benigno Zerafa: Improperia per il Venerdi Santo per la Cappella della Cattedrale di Malta
Giuseppe Jannacconi/Pergolesi: La Sequenza Stabat Mater del Pergolese ridotta a 4, concertata e brevissima
Niccolo Jommelli: Miserere per la Basilica di San Pietro
David Perez: Mottetto in festo Sancti Michaelis Archangeli (part 1)

    Ghislieri Choir
    Ghislieri Consort
    Giulio Prandi (director).
