    Francesca Caccini

I wonder if anyone followed this week's CotW about FC, another amazingly talented female composer/singer of the Italian early baroque? Her style seems very fluent, half-way to a sort of 17th/18th century harmonic and melodic orthodoxy. Almost as fascinating was her involvement and status in Italian court life.

Indeed - a fascinating week (caught most of it) - gorgeous music, some lovely voices - Shannon Mercer new to me.
