He was quite a guy! I've only encountered him via a few small organ pieces. There was so much more to him, e.g. arriving in London dressed in borrowed sailors' clothes! And for lovers of the harpsichord, lots of music to enjoy.

I only really came across him several years ago when I got the Gustav Leonhardt Jubilee Edition. It's a very good collection and the Froberger disc is superb (coupled with works by his friend and rival, Matthias Weckmann). He certainly had a colourful life: was court organist in Vienna, studied with Frescobaldi in Rome and toured around all over Europe, allegedly acting as a spy, being wooed by princesses and getting captured by pirates.
