Hampton Court and Edward VI: EMS 8 May

Lucie Skeaping visits Hampton Court Palace to find out about the music written during the short, but eventful reign of King Edward VI. She traces Edward's story from cradle to grave with guest contributor Michele Price - manager of the choral foundation at Hampton Court Palace. (R)http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b04xrppx

A lovely programme, the music progressing towards the English texts demanded by Edward's protestantism. Many familiar pieces such as If ye love me, Christ rising again and Lord for thy tender mercy's sake.

The Ludford at the beginning of the programme was sublime.

I do not at all like this talk of 'progress'!

Any shade of meaning was entirely unintentional. And it did progress again, albeit briefly, for Mary!
